What to listen with

A short list of headphones, speakers and small things that suit our sessions: for binaural beats, for listening in bed, and for focused work. Each one is here for a reason we can name.

Headphones for binaural sessions

Binaural beats only exist when each ear hears its own tone, so these sessions need headphones. Closed over-ear models with noise cancelling work well: they keep the room out without touching the layer, and stay comfortable for two hours.

Earbuds for sessions on the go

In-ear models carry a binaural beat just as well as over-ear headphones, since each ear still gets its own channel. They are the easier choice in the office, the library or on the train.

Speakers for monaural, isochronic and noise sessions

Monaural beats and isochronic tones carry the pulse in the sound itself, so they work on speakers. So do our brown, pink and white noise sessions. A good speaker lets you listen without anything on your ears.

Do I need special headphones? No. Any pair of headphones that plays the left and right channel separately carries a binaural beat. Monaural beats and isochronic tones also work on speakers. The models above simply make long sessions quieter and more comfortable.
